Loipahötta

The cross-country-skiing cabin is located in the settlement Steg at 1300 meters respectively above sea level in the alpine region of Liechtenstein. The design process was made over two semesters in the design studio of Urs Meister/ Carmen Rist. In the first semester the students developed 10 different design projects. In the second semester the 10 design projects were further developed to one final project. During the construction phase the core of the timber cabin was built by first year students during a one week lasting workshop. In a next step the timber structure was transported up into the mountain where the final construction works were made on site. The resulting timber cabin allows skiers to move, wax their skis, change clothes and to boil a tea after their skiing activities.
