Short CV

Christian Schmutz (Ulm) received the Master of Excellence in Architecture in 2001 from the Berlage Institute/ Rotterdam (DAAD Scholarship). In 1998 he graduated from the University of Stuttgart after having completed his architectural studies including a one-year-exchange program at the Graz University of Technology. During and after his studies he worked in several renowned practices in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium among them Formalhaut/ Frankfurt, Volker Giencke/ Graz and Stéphane Beel/ Gent. In 2005 he founded together with Marisol Rivas Velázquez Architecture, Urbanism + Research Agency), a multidisciplinary office of architecture, urban design and research based in Ulm. Parallel to his professional practice he was visiting professor at the ITESM Monterrey/ Mexico, assistant professor and lecturer at the Institute of Design.studio2 of Leopold-Franzens-University Innsbruck and lecturer at the Institute for Construction and Design 1 of the University of Stuttgart. Since 2015 he is research associate at the Institute of Urban Planning within the frame work of the research project City-Space-Education.
