Olaf Pfeifer is an architect, theoretician, and educator based in Berlin / Germany. He has been teaching architectural design and theory at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, where he also conceptualized and organized several international conferences on architectural theory. He holds a Master's Degree from Pratt Institute, New York and TU Berlin. His theoretical research is focused on the architectural implications of authenticity, atmosphere, minimalism and festishism in architecture. Exploring the envelope of architecture and art as practical means of small community design and development has been the aim of several collaboration projects with artists and urbanists. A long-term collaboration with a the German-Chinese Design Firm crossboundaries and workshops with Chinese Students have been interesting experiences of cultural diversity within the design community.
