Dr. Ahmed K. Ali is the Harold Adams Endowed Professor of Architecture and Director of the award-winning Resource-Based Design Research Lab (RBDR/Lab) at Texas A&M University. His research and scholarship explore the relationship between the architecture of waste, circular economy, and industrial symbiosis. Widely known as “the Wasteman,” Dr. Ali is recognized for his exceptional ability to transform industrial waste streams into high-value building products and systems. His work has been featured in numerous prestigious publications, including the Steven Holl Foundation’s Critical Research Archive, Steel Surfaces by William Zahner (Wiley), General Motors Green, Living Architecture Monitor, and Texas Architect magazine. He is also a recipient of the 2025 Forge Prize Award from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
