About

BASEhabitat is a studio at the University of Art and Design Linz’ department of architecture. Founded in 2004, it is concerned with sustainable architecture and a development of buildings, settlements and cities that follows eco-social principles.

A particular focus is on local, natural and affordable construction materials, the participation users and of those affected in planning and construction processes, and to make these attributes integral parts of the training of young architects. BASEhabitat works in planning and realizing projects, as well as in research on an academic level.

Outside of academia, BASEhabitat develops exhibitions, offers workshops, on-site practice and every other year organizes an international summer school.
